FAQ’s - BRIDAL TRIALS

What should I expect?

A bridal trial is a fun appointment where we work together to create your bridal look. Its a relaxed atmosphere either at my home or at ‘Blow & Blush’ salon in Bearsted where I am based once a week. I encourage your ideas fully, although I will advise with my experience I ultimately want you to drive the appointment to achieve exactly what you visualize and hopefully I can then bring that to life.

How do I choose my look?

I ask that in the lead up to the trial save any images of makeup looks you like for us to talk through at the beginning of the appointment so I can gauge what sort of look you have in mind. When choosing these pictures bear in mind your own skin tone, hair/eye colour, eye shapes etc…as one look on one person might not always suit another.

I’ve had a few trials with different MUA’s and I’m just not getting the look I want?

This can be hugely disappointing and although of course sometimes it can be down to each artists individual makeup style not being the right fit for you it can also come from not really knowing what you want. To save time and money on lots of trials you really need to research makeup looks you like before going for a trial. Lots of brides just want to leave it to me to decide but ultimately the initial ideas must come from you, its your day. There’s hundreds of colour combinations we can do with makeup so some planning really helps.

Anything I need to do to prepare?

Please come to the appointment makeup free, ready to start with a fresh face. You can apply skincare if you like something in particular but if not I will apply this as part of the skin prep. I talk about this during the trial but I can’t stress enough how a basic skincare routine really helps in getting the best out of your makeup, it is the canvas after all! Exfoliating once a week and moisturising ensures the makeup sits better and most importantly last longer.

Does all of the bridal party need a trial?

This is completely up to you but as a minimum just the bride is fine, you are the most important after all. You will also get to know my makeup style on the trial and we can always discuss a look for the bridesmaids. If you like piece of mind then maybe one bridesmaid can trial a look for everyone as quite often they all have the same colour’s and of course the mums are welcome also.

I don’t ever wear a lot of makeup day to day and apparently I need more on my wedding day?

Another common question, absolutely not. You want makeup to last all day but that doesn’t necessarily mean ‘thick’ or heavily applied. You want to look like a more glam version of you, also your guests see you in daylight aswell as the evening. Light layers can create a flawless look without being heavy. If you don’t normally wear a lot of makeup that’s fine, a beautiful and simple ‘no makeup’ look with focus on a flawless base takes just as long to execute as a full glam look. It’s down to the individual.
